President of XAUAT Prof. Xu Delong
Xu Delong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and an influential expert in the field of inorganic non-metalic materials studies, was born in the city of Lan Zhou, Gan Su Province in August, 1952. In July, 1976, he graduated from Dept. of Cement Process, Xi'an Institute of Metallurgy and Architecture (Now XAUAT), and has been engaging in teaching, research and administrative work. In 1983, he acquired his Master Degree in Nanjing University of Chemical Engineering. In 1990, he was authorized Degree Engineer in Clausthal University in Germany, and in 1996, he got his Doctoral Degree in Northeast University. In 1986, he was promoted to be an associate professor for being an outstanding talent and outstanding contributor, and in 1992, he was promoted as a professor. In the year of 1986, he established the Institute of Powder Engineering and he was the director then. In 1993, he was Dean of Marerial Science and Engineering Department; in June, 1995, he was elected Vice president of XAUAT, and in March, 1998, president of XAUAT. In 2003, he was elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
He has won the 2nd prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, the 4th prize of National Invention Prize, an award of Promotion of National Science and Technology Achievements, an award for National Teaching Achievement Prize, and 13 awards of Provincial Science and Technology Award. Many hononrary titles were bestowed on him, like “National Advanced Worker”, “Experts of Outstanding Contribution”, “Baogang Prominent Teachers”, “National Youth Award in the Field of Metallurgy”and “Shaanxi Model Workers”, etc.. He enjoys a special allowance of the State Council, and is nominated for the International Einstein Science Award, Vaconcelos Educational Award, Vinci Award of Arts, Ho-leung-ho-lee Award. He is elected as members of National Project of Millions of Talents and Shaanxi Project of 35 talents.
He is concurrently holding posts in different organizations and institutions, like the member of standing committee of China Federation of Retossed Overseas Chinese, the chairman of Shaanxi Federation of Retossed Overseas Chinese, chairman of the board of directors of Shaanxi Institute of Circular Economy Technology, an honorary professor of New South Wales University, Australia, and he is the Guest-prof in many universities in China, say, the Northeast University, Nanjing University of Chemical Engineering, Tongji University, etc.. What's more, he is the chief advisor for many local governments and many enterprises across our country.
The introduction of Academician Wang Xiaodong
Wang Xiaodong graduated from Dept. of Architecture, Xi'an Institute of Metallurgy and Architecture (Now XAUAT) in 1963, and then he has been working in Xinjiang Institute of Architecture Designing and Research. He is now the Chief Architect and the honorary President of the Institute. At present, he is the 11th executive director in CHINAAASC, and the doctoral supervisor in XAUAT. His works of architectural designing include 3rd Building of Xinjiang Friendship Hotel, Xinjiang Kupa Guizi Hotel, Xinjiang Section in Beijing Chinese Ethnic Museum, Xinjiang Museum, Xinjiang Museum of Geology and Mineral Resources, Xinjiang International Grand Barrza, Korla Konda Mansion, etc.. His designs have won many awards for best design both at home and abroad. In 2005, he won “Robert Matthew Award” (An Award for Building Environment improvement) presented by UIA. In 2007, he was bestowed the highest honor in the field of architecture in China—the 4th Liang Sicheng Architecture Award. He has dozens of papers published in relative academic journals. Some of the papers are “Inheritage and Innovation”, “The Orientation of Xinjiang Islamic Architecture”, “Cultural Salvation for Architectural Dilemma”, “The Ever-changing Concept of City ”, and “The Origin and Resolution of Architecture” etc.. His books entitled as A Journey of Xinjiang Culture of Ancient Architecture, The Pictorial Handbook of Islamic Architectural History, A Cruise into Architecture in West China, etc., were also published.
In December, 2007, he was elected the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is now working on the research and studies of “the unique features of Urumuqi” and “the reformation of the Old Town in Kashi” for which he won the “Special Award for Civilian Architecture” in the 2nd Chinese Architecture and Media—the Special Award for Civilian Architecture.
