Best Practices for 9 Steps to Success!
In a perfect world, teachers are able to get quality time away from their classrooms and all the other daily activities of running a school in order to reflect, share, learn and grow.
As we are all aware, teachers are busy, and schools and districts are busy places. Sometimes a full-day workshop is simply not possible. A+RISE has developed a planning tool for you to use when you are faced with the challenge of competing daily priorities and a lack of specific PD time that can still help you get these important strategies into the hands of the teachers quickly and with proper support. The best ideas for implementation come from teachers and trainers just like you, with a common goal to help teachers reach our ELLs. This discussion will focus on 9 Steps for Success! contributions from existing trainers.
Focus Step 5: How and when will I communicate with the building administrator to coordinate and execute the plan?
Regina Marshall-Smith: I have met with the Administration and the plan is to offer time outside of school days (extended day / pay for teachers to attend) so there is an incentive to get the training.
- How: Survey the staff’s needs
- How: Based on survey results, discuss action plan with proposal
- When: planned staff development opportunities
- When: grade level and individual meetings
Linda Villareal: We will communicate with the building administrators to coordinate and execute the plan through list serve communications, stakeholder, meetings, advisory group meetings, and curriculum contact meetings.
